Unrefined Shea Butter is a rich fat produced from the nuts of the shea tree found in Africa. Butter made from shea nuts is thick and creamy, and has been used as a natural skin and hair care product for centuries.
Shea Butter Benefits:Shea Butter is enjoyed all over the world–either in its natural form or as a main ingredient in soaps, cosmetics, and hair care products. People often use Shea Butter to relieve skin conditions such as dry skin, stretch marks, eczema, cracked heels, etc. Shea Butter is non-comedogenic and will not clog your pores, so can be used by people affected by or worried about acne.
How is Shea Butter MadeUnrefined Shea Butter starts off with shea nuts that are boiled to soften their shells and the seeds are removed by hand. The shea seeds are cracked and roasted before being milled and kneaded into a thick dough. The dough is then blended with water to separate the fats from the solids. The skimmed fats are boiled and cooled, resulting in a pure butter that is fresh, natural, and bursting with goodness.
Shea Butter Color:Unrefined Shea Butter, unlike refined shea butter that gets bleached and stripped of its characteristics, does not have a consistent color. Any of the following colors and shades can found in unrefined shea butter: off-white, ivory, pale yellow, pale gray and pale green.
Shea Butter Smell:Unrefined shea butter has a characteristic smokey and nutty natural smell, that can differ in intensity depending on the harvest. The nutty smell of unrefined shea butter is not something that everyone enjoys. If you receive our shea butter and do not like the smell, you can return it for a full refund.Certificate of Origin is available upon request.

I cannot express how happy I am with my purchase of this Organic Shea Butter! I finally made the Whipped Lavender Body Butter recipe that I had found online. Let’s just say that I’m going to throw out every store bought lotion I own because I’m not going back to store bought chemical lotions!!!

Wonderfully creamy, raw, unrefined, and organic Shea Butter. Perfect straight from package or in lotion recipes!

As I have become more interested in organic and raw products, raw Shea Butter has been on my “to try” list. I finally got the opportunity to try Raw Shea Butter by Better Shea Butter. It has been fun making different lotions and lotion bars from it, although you can use it straight out of the package by taking a very small amount of the Shea butter and rubbing into your skin. The consistency is very much like that of cookie dough, (and it almost smells like cookie dough!). The sniff test is very mild and pleasant. I chose to make a whipped lotion, a liquid lotion, and lotion bars with this lovely Shea butter and have been very pleased with the results. Between the available e-book recipes and Internet recipes, there are lots of ideas as to what you can do with your Shea butter if you want to use it beyond little dabs straight from the package! I love my new lotions!

It’s Saturday night…and I am all alone. I look on my bathroom counter and see this unassuming bag of unrefined shea butter. I close my eyes in a desperate attempt to decide what to do. Should I spend 2 hours decorating myself with the traditional weekend war paint and performing the flat iron frenzy to then join my girlfriends for an evening of tomfoolery? Subject myself to the advances of aged frat boys whose pores ooze the fragrance of stale tailgates and red meat? Wiggle and jiggle my way across the dance floor in an archaic attempt to attract an alpha male that can match my rhythmic intentions?
One of the best Shea Butter products I’ve purchased

At first I was leery about buying this product because of the reviews. Yes, they were mostly good but then some where just awful and I didn’t want to fall into the trap of ignoring the warnings in favor of positive news. I end up giving this product a chance because it said exactly what I was looking for in a Shea Butter product. I didn’t want it fully diluted with other products or grainy or yellow or foul smelling. Plus for 16 dollars for a pound is a good deal when other companies sell lower quality for much more.
Lovely Unrefined (That’s Just How It Smells)

This is a great unrefined product. I was very put off by the smell at first–it didn’t smell like the last shea butter I had–but then I realized that this is what unrefined shea butter smells like. Once I was certain the smell wasn’t indicative of a problem with the product, I didn’t mind at all. It’s a sort of nutty smell that isn’t noticeable if you’re using the shea butter in a recipe with other ingredients and is pretty easily covered by scent.
This Better shea butter brand has such an intoxicating smell

This Better shea butter brand has such an intoxicating smell, not like the half rancid jars I sometimes buy at the health food store. I feel like I’m getting my money’s worth.
Real Buttery Shea Butter

Prior to purchasing this, I had only ever used the yellow shea butter by a different company. While waiting for this one to arrive I bought a tiny jar of the white butter at Whole Foods because I was completely out. While I like the other brand, I absolutely LOVE Better Shea Butter’s brand; it is not whipped (the Whole Foods brand was) and was soft, pliable, easy to apply to my skin. Sometimes I get excited when I get a new product and tend to use too much, so I took it easier with this and it paid off. I only use a small amount for skin moisturization and it does moisturize superbly.
